Christmas Baby Hats for Hospital

Our knitting group started knitting and crocheting Christmas baby hats back in July. The project continued through November. We ended up with 69 Christmas baby hats to donate to the local hospital nursery. They send their December babies home in a Christmas stocking, so we wanted to make hats to go with that. Lots of hands and lots of loving hours of work went into this endeavor. Thanks to all in our group who contributed. Here are some examples of the hats:

Ostrich Plume Shawl

This shawl was knitted as a prayer shawl for a dear friend who has been going through some big challenges for quite a while now. I took the pattern idea from a baby blanket pattern in Vogue Knitting Baby Blankets (Vogue Knitting on the Go series) p. 50 "Ostrich Plume Lace Throw".

I used US #10 circular needles with Vanna's Choice worsted weight yarn. It took about 2 1/2 large balls. More details are on the Ravelry post. (KnitsForPreemies)
